Pavilhão do Conhecimento, Science museum in Parque das Nações, Portugal.
The Pavilhão do Conhecimento is a science museum in Parque das Nações with multiple floors of permanent and rotating exhibitions. The collections cover physics, mathematics, technology, and scientific phenomena, offering a wide range of topics for exploration.
The building was designed for the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition and opened in 1999 as part of the Knowledge of the Seas Pavilion. The architecture by João Luís Carrilho da Graça has since become a defining feature of the Parque das Nações landscape.
The museum serves as a place where visitors engage with science and learn how things work through hands-on exploration. The exhibitions encourage experimentation and invite people to discover physical and mathematical phenomena by trying things out for themselves.
The museum is located near Oriente Station and is well served by public transportation. Plan to spend a few hours walking through the different exhibition areas.
The horizontal section of the building appears to float freely in the air without touching the ground. This floating effect is a bold architectural feature that immediately catches the eye when entering.
