Teatro Variedades, Entertainment theatre in Parque Mayer, Lisbon, Portugal
The Teatro Variedades features a prominent entrance portico, an elegant foyer, and an auditorium that accommodates 300 spectators for theatrical performances.
The theatre, designed by architect Urbano de Castro, opened its doors on July 8, 1926, and operated continuously until a fire damaged the structure in 1966.
The venue presented five annual variety shows with performers like Laura Alves, Palmira Bastos, and Amália Rodrigues until television changed entertainment preferences.
The box office operates Monday through Saturday from 5 PM to 8 PM, with access through Avenida metro station and multiple bus lines.
After thirty years of closure, the renovated theatre will reopen in October 2024 with two productions directed by Ricardo Neves-Neves.
