Palacete Mendonça

Palácio Mendonça is an early 20th-century mansion in Lisbon with a central facade and two lateral wings displaying classical Italian architecture. The three-story building combines symmetrical lines with decorative details at windows and doors.

The estate was built between 1900 and 1902 for a wealthy coffee merchant and received a prestigious architecture award in 1909. This recognition honored the innovative design approach of that era.

The rooms display works by Portuguese artists, including ceramic tiles by Manuel Gustavo Bordalo Pinheiro and detailed wooden carvings in various spaces. These decorative touches reflect the taste and connections of the wealthy family who made this their home.

The building sits on Rua Marquês da Fronteira and underwent recent comprehensive renovation, with elevator access and modern facilities for visitors. The adjacent gardens are accessible for exploration.
