Praia de Caxias

Praia de Caxias is a sandy beach in Lisbon divided into three sections by two coastal forts. The beach curves along the Tagus River with open views across the water.

Two forts built in the 17th century to defend Lisbon from naval raids now frame this beach. These structures remain visible and separate the shore into distinct sections.

Families gather here on weekends, and you will see local fishermen still working from the rocks, maintaining traditions connected to Lisbon's port history.

You can reach this beach easily by train from central Lisbon, and parking is available near the entrance. Showers and lifeguards are present during the summer season.

The beach earned Blue Flag certification for its environmental standards and water quality. From here you can photograph both the 25th of April Bridge and the Christ the King statue in the same frame.
