Route of the Seven Hanging Valleys

The trail extends for 6 kilometers along limestone cliffs, connecting Praia da Marinha with Praia do Vale de Centianes through multiple beaches and viewpoints.

The path follows seven valleys formed by ancient water streams that carved deep gorges through limestone formations over millions of years.

Local fishermen have used the coastal paths for generations to access hidden coves and fishing spots between Carvoeiro and the Alfanzina Lighthouse.

The trail requires sturdy walking shoes and takes approximately two hours to complete one way, with moderate elevation changes totaling 210 meters.

Natural bridges and sea stacks punctuate the route, while rare species of seabirds nest in the vertical cliff walls along the Mediterranean coast.
