Ngaraard

Ngaraard is a state administration region on northern Babeldaob island containing five villages surrounded by tropical forests and mangrove areas. The region spans a significant area with diverse landscape types that shape daily life for those who live there.

The region experienced control by Spain and Germany before Japanese administrators established a primary school in Ulimang in the early 20th century. This school marked an important moment in the region's modern development.

The five villages maintain stone platforms used as clan cemeteries that show how deeply rooted people are in honoring their ancestors. These sites remain gathering places where families gather to remember those who came before.

The region receives consistent rainfall from May through January, while February to April offers drier conditions for outdoor activities. It helps to keep the rainy season in mind when planning visits and activities in the area.

Ulimang serves as the administrative center and holds historical buildings from different colonial periods that show the region's changing political history. These structures tell stories of the various powers that shaped the area over time.
