Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is a football venue in Al Rayyan, Qatar, seating 44,740 people and wrapped in a multimedia facade. This outer shell displays live sports updates, news, and match results on digital screens covering the entire building.
The original structure built in 2003 held 21,282 spectators before demolition in 2015 cleared space for the current building. The new facility opened in 2020, replacing the earlier venue with a modern design of greater capacity.
This venue bears the name of Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani, who governed as Emir from 1960 to 1972, linking the sport to national memory. Local families gather during match days and use the surrounding areas for socializing, turning each game into a community event.
The venue sits in the Umm Al Afaei district with access through public transport, including dedicated metro stops, and ample parking space for drivers. Arriving early on match days helps avoid congestion near the entrances as crowds build closer to kickoff.
About 90 percent of materials from the demolished predecessor were reused in the new construction or turned into art installations. Some of these artworks stand around the grounds, giving the site a connection to its earlier form.
