Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Football stadium in Rawdat Al Jahhaniya, Qatar.
Ahmed bin Ali Stadium is a modern sports venue with 45,032 seats and a technologically advanced media facade. This exterior features screens for displaying projections, news feeds, and live sports updates during events.
An earlier facility from 2003 with 21,282 seats was demolished in 2015 to make way for a new stadium built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The new project significantly expanded hosting capacity for the region.
The exterior walls display seven distinct patterns inspired by Qatari heritage, featuring desert dunes, Islamic geometric designs, and local animals. These visual elements represent values central to the region including family bonds and respect for nature.
The venue is located roughly 20 kilometers west of central Doha with access through Al Riffa metro station and various bus services. Good public transport connections make visiting straightforward from most areas of the city.
During reconstruction between 2016 and 2020, builders reused approximately 90 percent of materials from the previous structure. This sustainable approach demonstrates resourceful construction practices during the project.
