Galați County, Administrative division in eastern Romania.
Galați County extends between the Prut and Siret rivers, containing four cities and 56 communes across 4,466 square kilometers of territory in Romania.
The county emerged through a territorial reorganization in 1968, incorporating sections of the former Galați Region and parts of what are now Brăila and Tulcea counties.
The county maintains several museums, including the Paul Păltănea History Museum and Visual Art Museum, which showcase regional artifacts and artistic collections.
The Liberty Steel Works and Damen Shipyard form the industrial core of Galați County, providing employment opportunities and contributing to Romania's metallurgical production.
The region contains the Băneasa Forest natural reserve, where wild peonies grow naturally among paleontological sites containing fossils from different geological periods.
