Alba Iulia Fortress

Alba Iulia Fortress is a star-shaped fortification with six entrance gates and extensive defensive walls blending multiple architectural styles. Inside, visitors find several museums, two cathedrals, and archaeological sites to explore.

Construction of this fortress began in 1715 under Habsburg rule as a major military project. The building process took considerable time and resources, shaping the region's military importance for centuries.

The Union Hall inside the fortress marks where Romanian leaders made their declaration of unity in 1918. Today, visitors can step into this room and sense its role in the nation's story.
