The stone church contains a rectangular altar, a small nave with beam ceiling, and a bell tower on the western side.
The structure dates back to 1392 and was built at the end of the 13th century to serve a princely court in the region.
The interior frescoes, created by artist Grozie in the third quarter of the 14th century, display Byzantine iconography with north Italian influences.
The church stands at coordinates 45.7165 latitude and 22.9889 longitude, situated within a cemetery in Hunedoara County.
Archaeological excavations at the site revealed traces of an ancient Roman villa rustica beneath the church foundations.
