Oradea, Regional capital in northwestern Romania.

Oradea is a city in northwestern Romania that spreads along both banks of the Crisul Repede River. Its streets feature wide avenues lined with Art Nouveau and Baroque buildings from the 18th century.

A fortress was built here between 1114 and 1131 and later withstood a Tatar attack in 1241. The settlement was reconstructed under the Corvinus dynasty in the 15th century.

The city reflects a long history of coexistence, visible in churches, mosques, and synagogues standing side by side throughout its streets. This religious diversity shapes how locals and visitors experience the urban landscape and community spaces.

The city connects to European destinations through its airport, making it easy to arrive from many places. Getting around locally is straightforward with buses and trams covering the main areas.

The Black Eagle Palace holds a covered passage with detailed iron decorations, lined with numerous small shops inside its arcade. This sheltered space offers a quiet shopping experience away from the busy streets outside.
