Cascada Mișina, Nature reserve in Vrancea County, Romania.
Cascada Mișina is a nature reserve in the Vrancea region with a waterfall, three different forest types, and mountain meadows. The protected area spans about 183 hectares at an elevation of about 1200 meters (3,940 feet).
The area received protected status under Law No. 5 on March 6, 2000, making it a nationally designated nature reserve. This designation was created to conserve the diverse natural habitats found there.
Wooden churches from the 18th century stand near the reserve and display the building style typical of the Vrancea region. These structures are part of everyday village life and form part of the local landscape.
Access to the waterfall is via county road DJ205M with entry points from the villages of Năruja and Nistorești. Visitors should prepare for hilly terrain and variable weather conditions, bringing appropriate gear for the environment.
The reserve is home to rare carnivores like European brown bears, gray wolves, and Eurasian lynx living in this protected setting. It also hosts special amphibian species such as the yellow-bellied toad that thrive only in specific habitats.
