The Vijnićer Klaus Temple is a synagogue building with mixed architectural influences from Baroque, Moorish, and Romanesque styles visible on its exterior. The interior follows a simpler decorative approach while maintaining the same stylistic elements.
The building was completed in 1902 and served the Neolog community of Sighetu Marmației. It operated under the leadership of Rabbi Samuel Beniamin Danzig until the Holocaust marked the end of this period.
The temple reflects the religious diversity that existed in Sighetu Marmației, where different Jewish communities lived alongside each other. The interior spaces show how various groups conducted their prayers and ceremonies while maintaining their own traditions.
The building is located on Basarabia Street at number 10 and is registered as a protected historic monument. When visiting, be aware that access and visiting hours may be limited.
The building remained active during the interwar period when Jews made up roughly 40 percent of Sighetu Marmației's population. This high concentration of Jewish residents made the town an important center of Jewish culture in the region.
