Potpece Cave

Potpece Cave is a cave entrance in limestone at the foot of Dreznicka Gradina, featuring a large portal opening to the rock face. The interior contains multiple chambers connected by passages that visitors can explore along an established route.

The cave was documented in the late 1800s and underwent systematic exploration in the early 1900s. Scientific investigations in the late 1900s helped establish understanding of its geological importance.

Archaeological excavations within the cave revealed pottery fragments, deer antlers, and stone tools from inhabitants during the Neolithic period.

Visits are possible during certain seasons, with guided tours offering safe access through illuminated pathways. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended as the floor surfaces are uneven in most areas.

The cave holds traces of human presence from ancient times discovered on the floor and walls. These findings show that people have been drawn to explore this location for thousands of years.
