Nova Pavlica

Nova Pavlica is a monastery built with stone walls and marble framing around its windows and doors near Raška, Serbia. The construction shows design features that appear in other monuments throughout the region.

The founders Stefan and Lazar Music along with their mother Dragana established this monastery in the later 14th century. The interior frescoes were added shortly after the building was completed.

The monastery preserves traditions of medieval Serbian art through its frescoes and architectural forms that belong to the Morava style. Visitors can see these artistic works today and understand how they shaped the spiritual life of the region.

The monastery sits in a rural setting near Raška and can be reached by well-maintained roads from the town. Wear comfortable shoes and prepare for uneven ground when exploring the grounds.

Unlike typical Morava style buildings, this monastery lacks the elaborate decorative facade elements and jagged surfaces of that era. This makes it a notable example of a simpler building approach from that period.
