The Oranienbaum palace complex stands on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, 40 kilometers west of Saint Petersburg.
The city started in 1710 when Alexander Menshikov ordered the construction of a palace complex opposite the naval fortress of Kronstadt.
The Grand Menshikov Palace exhibits traditional Russian architectural elements combined with German Baroque influences across its extensive halls and galleries.
Regular train services connect Saint Petersburg Baltic Terminal to Oranienbaum station throughout the day, with the journey taking approximately one hour.
The Oranienbaum palace ensemble remains the only imperial residence near Saint Petersburg that German forces never captured during World War II.
