Palace of Maximilian, Duke of Leuchtenberg

The Palace of Maximilian in Sergievka is a classical mansion with Roman columns, porticos, and elaborately decorated facades arranged across multiple levels. The buildings spread across a large estate with landscaped gardens situated near the Gulf of Finland.

The building was constructed in 1839 as a residence for Duke Maximilian de Beauharnais following his marriage to Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia. It became an important noble estate in the Peterhof region during the 19th century.

The palace displays classical decorations and design choices that reflect how wealthy families of the 1800s lived and arranged their homes. Visitors can see the tastes and customs of Russian nobility through the arranged rooms and their furnishings.

The estate can be explored through guided tours that cover both interior rooms and the surrounding gardens. It is helpful to wear comfortable shoes since visitors walk through different areas of the grounds and may need to move between buildings.

The gardens were designed according to the original 1839 plans and continue to reflect the historical landscape layout of that period. This means visitors see not only the architecture but also how the grounds were organized over 180 years ago.
