Central Administrative Okrug

The Central Administrative Okrug contains ten districts, including Arbat, Basmanny, and Tverskoy, forming the core governmental area of Moscow.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, this administrative division was established on July 10, 1991 to improve Moscow's governance structure.

The districts within this administrative okrug contain numerous theaters, museums, and educational institutions, representing Moscow's central cultural activities.

The administrative okrug manages municipal services, government operations, and public facilities for a population of 772,258 residents as of 2021.

This administrative area includes the Moscow Kremlin, the Federation Council, and multiple ministry buildings, concentrating Russian federal power.
