Sayanogorsk, Industrial city in Khakassia, Russia.

Located at an elevation of 300 meters, Sayanogorsk extends along the mountainous terrain with temperatures frequently dropping below zero degrees Celsius during winter months.

The settlement emerged in 1830 and remained part of the Minusinsk Uyezd until 1925, later becoming integrated into the Khakas Autonomous Oblast until 1992.

The population of Sayanogorsk maintains traditional Russian and Khakas customs, reflecting the mixed heritage of the local communities in this Siberian region.

Local transportation includes regular bus services connecting different parts of the city, while winter temperatures require residents to wear insulated clothing from October through March.

The city experiences extended periods of darkness during winter, with current daylight lasting approximately 8 hours between 8:45 AM and 4:43 PM.
