Southern Administrative Okrug
Southern Administrative Okrug, Administrative division in southern Moscow, Russia.
The Southern Administrative Okrug extends across 132 square kilometers of Moscow and contains sixteen distinct districts, including Danilovsky and Donskoy regions.
The territory gained formal recognition as an administrative sector in July 1991, following the restructuring of Moscow's governance system after the Soviet period.
The Danilov Monastery, established in 1271 by Prince Daniel of Moscow, stands as a religious center within the administrative boundaries.
The district maintains an extensive transportation network with multiple metro stations and bus routes connecting 1.7 million residents to central Moscow.
