Vlasikha, Moscow Oblast

Vlasikha is a military settlement in Moscow Oblast that serves as headquarters for Strategic Missile Troops. The complex spans roughly 411 hectares at an elevation of about 190 meters in central Moscow Oblast.

The area began as the village of Kostino dating to the 17th century and transformed into a military command center during World War II under General Georgy Zhukov. This shift established it as a strategic hub for the nation's defense operations.

The settlement is home to a museum dedicated to Strategic Rocket Forces, displaying technological advances and military heritage connected to Russian missile defense. Visitors can observe exhibits showing how these systems have evolved and shaped national security.

The settlement is closed to the public and requires special authorization to visit due to its status as a restricted military zone with controlled access points. Unauthorized persons cannot enter the area under normal circumstances.

The military complex includes a multi-level underground bunker built around 1986 that operates as a strategic command center for missile operations. This subterranean facility demonstrates the engineering methods used for secure operations during that era.
