The Mazhit Gafuri Bashkir State Academic Drama Theater presents theatrical performances in a large building located on Zeki Velidi Street in central Ufa.
Founded in 1919 in Sterlitamak, the theater relocated to Ufa in 1922 and merged with the local Tatar-Bashkir troupe of the Ufa State Theater.
The theater specializes in performances of classical and contemporary works in the Bashkir language, maintaining the regional theatrical traditions of Bashkortostan.
The theater building contains multiple performance halls with modern technical equipment and offers regular evening shows throughout the theatrical season.
The theater stands on the former location of the Resurrection Cathedral, with a bronze monument of Majit Gafuri positioned at its entrance.
