Diamond Fund, Treasury exhibition in Moscow, Russia
The Diamond Fund is an exhibition of Russian state regalia, precious stones, and jewelry pieces located within the Moscow Kremlin. The collection includes crown jewels, ceremonial items adorned with diamonds, and various ornaments gathered over centuries.
Peter the Great established the Diamond Fund in 1719 to store imperial treasures and ceremonial jewelry of the royal family. Over centuries, the collection was expanded to include objects from various periods of Russian history.
The collection displays works from the Experimental Jewelry Laboratory, representing Russian craftsmanship spanning from the 18th to the 21st century. You can observe how artisans transformed precious materials into objects for the royal court across different periods.
You can visit the exhibition from Friday to Wednesday during two time slots throughout the day. Tickets are available at office 4 in Alexander Garden, which sits near the Kremlin entrance.
The exhibition houses over one hundred diamonds, each weighing more than 100 carats. Alongside these stones are massive platinum and gold nuggets that reveal how raw materials were valued during imperial times.
