The Vereshchaginsky Viaduct stretches 220 meters across the Vereshchaginka river valley, connecting the Central and Khosta districts of Sochi with its 18-meter width.
The construction of this transportation infrastructure began in 1934, and the viaduct started serving the local population upon its completion in 1935.
This structure received recognition as a federal cultural heritage site in Russia, exemplifying the engineering capabilities and architectural methods of 1930s construction.
The viaduct forms an essential part of the federal highway A147, enabling daily traffic flow between different sections of Sochi through Kurortny Avenue.
While originally constructed over the Vereshchaginka River, the water now flows through underground pipes, with residential buildings occupying the former riverbed beneath the structure.
