Sochi State Сircus, Circus building in Khostinsky district, Sochi, Russia.
The Sochi State Circus is a circus building in the Khostinsky district with a circular arena seating approximately 2000 people. High ceilings accommodate aerial performances, and specialized lighting systems support the different types of acts performed here.
The building opened in 1971 and received the USSR State Prize for its architectural design by Yu L Shvartsbreim. Yu V Nikulin played a key role in bringing this project to life.
The facade displays mosaic artworks designed by A N Skripnikov, while a decorative frieze with masks by sculptor V I Glukhov catches the eye as you approach. These artistic elements give the building its distinctive character.
The building is open year-round, with tickets available at the box office or through their website. Visitors should check accessibility options and plan time to explore the space before performances.
Before the 2014 Winter Olympics, the building underwent extensive modernization to update its facilities and equipment. This renovation positioned the circus to host contemporary world-class productions.
