Sochinskiy lighthouse, Lighthouse near Black Sea in Sochi, Russia.
Sochinskiy lighthouse is a brick maritime structure on the Black Sea coast in Sochi, standing 15 meters (about 49 feet) tall. It sits at the edge of the city's older harbor area and can be seen clearly from the shoreline.
The lighthouse was built in 1891 to help ships navigate this stretch of the Black Sea coast. It was part of a broader effort to develop Sochi as a working port during the late 19th century.
The lighthouse stands where the sea meets the daily life of Sochi, surrounded by beachfront walks and old harbor structures. Visitors who approach it get a sense of how closely the city has always been tied to the Black Sea.
The lighthouse is right on the waterfront and easy to reach on foot from the beach area, especially when walking toward the old harbor. The building can be viewed from the outside, making it a natural stop during a walk along the shore.
Although navigation technology has changed, the lighthouse is still operational and serves the same function it did when first built. This makes it one of the very few buildings in Sochi from the 19th century still actively in use today.
