Yaushev State Music Theater, Opera house in Saransk, Russia.
The Yaushev State Music Theater is an opera house on Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street in Saransk, the capital of the Republic of Mordovia in Russia. It has an auditorium with several hundred seats, rehearsal rooms, and a recording studio.
The theater opened in 1935 with a production of Carl Millöcker's operetta The Beggar Student and has been renovated several times since. It took on its current form in September 2011, when modernized facilities were opened after a major renovation.
The theater stages operas, operettas, and ballets in Russian and other languages, including works by Mordovian composers that reflect the music of the region. The program changes regularly and draws audiences from Saransk and the surrounding area.
The theater is in central Saransk, within walking distance of the city's main square. Smaller rooms are available alongside the main hall for chamber concerts and other events.
The theater's recording studio is designed to capture live performances without microphones, as the hall naturally carries sound very well. Instead of traditional painted sets, the stage uses video projection for the staging of productions.
