Kourovskaya observatory, Astronomical observatory in Sloboda, Russia
The Kourovskaya Observatory contains research telescopes and equipment for monitoring celestial bodies at an elevation of 280 meters in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The facility began operations in 1965 as part of Ural State University's expansion of astronomical research following the launch of Sputnik satellites.
The facility bears the name of Klavdia Barkhatova, who advocated for its creation and contributed to the development of astronomy in Russia.
Multiple telescopes at the observatory collect data for national and international programs, including the MASTER-II-URAL system for exoplanet detection.
The observatory's position enables continuous astronomical observations across a longitudinal span extending from Kazan to Irkutsk in Russia.
