Seven Brothers and One Sister Rocks, Natural rock formation in Nevyansky District, Russia

The Seven Brothers and One Sister Rocks consist of eight separate granite formations standing together in the Ural Mountains. Seven of the rocks stand closely grouped, while an eighth rock is positioned slightly apart, and together they create a distinctive landmark in the mountain landscape.

The rocks received official protection status as a natural monument in 2001 within the Sverdlovsk region. This designation marked an important shift in how the region approached the conservation of its natural formations.

Local communities refer to the formation by different names reflecting their languages and traditions. These various names show how different groups connect their own stories to the same rocks on the mountain.

These rocks are accessible via established hiking paths in the area and are reached by traveling through the mountain terrain. Plan your visit according to the season, as mountain weather and trail conditions can change significantly throughout the year.

The rocks are named after a local legend in which seven brothers stand together while their sister remains apart from the group. This story illustrates how the landscape served as a canvas for people to project family themes onto natural formations.
