Church of the Transfiguration, Nevyansk

The Church of the Transfiguration is a stone house of worship designed with classical lines and situated on the shore of an artificial lake. Its interior is decorated with five hand-painted icon screens that were crafted in a nearby porcelain factory.

After the tsar granted lands to merchant Nikita Demidov in 1710, a wooden building was first erected, later replaced by a stone structure. Construction of the present building began in 1824 and shaped the settlement for generations.

This place of worship reflects the religious beliefs passed down through generations in this valley, and people gather here for celebrations and holy days to pray together. You can see local craftwork throughout, especially in the painted ornaments that bring warmth to the interior.

The building is accessible during worship services and regular opening hours, with access clearly visible from the lakeshore. It is wise to check ahead for exact visiting times, as it functions primarily as an active place of worship.

The bell tower was completed in 1851 and rises higher than a famous leaning tower located in the same town. This feature made it the tallest structure in the area and a landmark of the region.
