Krasnoyarsk machine-building plant, subsidiary of Roscosmos
Krasnoyarsk machine-building plant, or Krasmash, is a large industrial facility in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, that focuses on rocket and space equipment production. The site contains multiple workshops equipped with precision metalworking machines, welding stations, and testing facilities for vacuum welding, laser cutting, and quality verification of complex components.
The plant was founded in 1932 and initially produced mining equipment for gold extraction operations. After World War II, it shifted to rocket production and became a key Soviet defense facility from the 1960s onward, manufacturing ballistic missiles and space launch systems.
The plant carries the name "Krasmash" and holds deep roots in the local community. Multi-generational families have worked here, creating a strong sense of shared purpose and industrial pride among the workforce.
The facility is located in Krasnoyarsk and benefits from good road and rail connections for product distribution across the region. Visits can be arranged in advance to observe the workshops and manufacturing processes firsthand.
During World War II, the plant produced anti-aircraft guns, mortars, and bombs that supported Soviet war efforts. In later decades, it became known for manufacturing Biryusa brand refrigerators, which became popular consumer products in the Soviet era.
