Kuperlya waterfall

Kuperlya waterfall is a three-tiered cascade in Bashkiriya National Park that drops approximately 20 meters as water flows from the Kuperlya brook into the Nugush River. The setting features steep banks and limestone rock walls that create the framework for this water formation.

The park protecting this waterfall was established in 1986 to preserve the region's natural features and wildlife. UNESCO designated it as a biosphere reserve in 2012, recognizing its importance as a protected area on an international level.

The waterfall holds significance in local stories and traditions of the people who live in this region. It is experienced by visitors as a natural focal point that draws attention to the landscape and water's constant movement through the rock formations.

Reaching the waterfall requires taking a boat across the Nugush Reservoir followed by a multi-hour hike over rough terrain. Along the way you will cross several streams and rivers, so sturdy footwear and reasonable fitness are needed.

Above the waterfall, a natural limestone arch spans the opening, shaped by centuries of water erosion through the rock. This stone formation creates a notable natural feature that visitors often fail to notice on first arrival.
