Lermontovo, human settlement in Tuapsinsky District, Krasnodar Krai, Russia
Lermontovo is a small village on the Black Sea coast, in the Tenginsk rural municipality of the Krasnodar region, Russia. It sits right at the water's edge, with low hills and patches of forest closing in on either side.
The area around the village was home to Circassian communities for centuries before Russian forces took control of the region following the Caucasian War in the 19th century. The settlement grew after that conflict and was later given the name of the poet Lermontov.
The village takes its name from the Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov, even though he never lived here. A small monument in the center marks this connection and serves as a natural meeting point for those passing through.
Summer, from June to September, is the most comfortable time to visit, when the sea is warm and the beach is easy to enjoy. The seafloor near the shore is shallow and sandy, which makes swimming straightforward for most visitors.
The village has a local well known as the well of unfulfilled wishes, where visitors toss in coins. It appears in no official guide, yet locals treat it as a genuine landmark worth a short detour.
