Cueva Bolshaya Fanagoriskaya, Natural cave system in Goryachiy Klyuch district, Russia
The cave extends for 1.5 kilometers with four large chambers, featuring walls covered in yellow and white clay formations.
Turkish traveler Evliya Celebi provided the first documented description of the cave system in 1666, marking its early exploration period.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the cave received numerous pilgrims who used the space for prayers and offerings.
Visitors need rope assistance to navigate past the central stalagmite formation known as Perelaz, which requires climbing to proceed further.
The cave maintains a constant temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and contains an underground stream that varies between 5 and 30 centimeters deep.
