Park Imeni Sorokaletiya Oktyabrya, Urban park in Krasnodar, Russia
Park Imeni Sorokaletiya Oktyabrya sits on an island with century-old oak trees, ornamental gardens, and pathways along the Kuban River banks. The grounds feature multiple areas for walking and resting with views toward the water.
The land was granted in 1876 to Marfa Golovata, widow of a prominent Kuban colonel. The German businessman Adolf Rokkel later developed the site into a park.
The park was named to commemorate the October Revolution, though residents typically call it Solnechny Island in their daily speech. This local name reflects how the community has adopted and uses the space in their own way.
The walking paths are well-maintained throughout the grounds, with several spots for resting along the way. Wear sturdy footwear and bring sun protection when visiting during warmer months.
A solitary oak tree near the wooden bridge has stood for roughly 150 years and represents the long natural history of this place. This tree quietly marks the original island vegetation that was here before the park was built.
