Monument to the Kuban Cossacks

The Monument to the Kuban Cossacks is a bronze statue of a mounted warrior in military dress, adorned with medals and carrying a traditional dagger and fur hat, standing about 7 meters high. It sits on a base near landscaped grounds along Krasnaya Street in the city center.

Created by sculptor Alexander Apollonov and unveiled in 2005, this monument commemorates the founding of Krasnodar by Black Sea Cossacks in 1792. Its installation reflects the city's efforts to honor the warrior heritage that established the region.

The bronze statue had to be transported by helicopter from Rostov-on-Don to Krasnodar due to its substantial size and weight. This unusual delivery method underscores the engineering challenge involved in placing such a large sculpture in the city.
