Potseluev Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Krasnodar, Russia
Potseluev Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing for pedestrians and cyclists in Krasnodar, spanning a tributary of the Kuban River and supported by a single tower. It connects the 30th Anniversary Park to the riverside promenade, with separate lanes for walking and cycling running along its length.
The bridge was completed in 2003 and created a direct link between the park and the riverside that had previously been hard to reach. Before it was built, the wide waterway made crossing between the two areas a long detour for local residents.
Newlyweds attach small locks to the railings as a symbol of their union, a habit that has become strongly associated with this crossing. Over time, the railings have filled up so densely with locks that they have become a landmark of their own.
The bridge is open to both walkers and cyclists, with wide separated paths that make it easy to use at any pace. It is well lit after dark, so crossing in the evening is straightforward and safe.
Workers periodically collect the locks attached to the railings and sell the metal as scrap. The money raised is used to buy gifts for couples celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.
