Volkonsky dolmen, Ancient dolmen in Volkonka, Russia
This stone burial site carved inside a large sandstone block measures 17 meters in length, 7.4 meters in width, and 6 meters in height.
The monolithic structure dates back to the Bronze Age, between 2000 and 3000 BCE, when megalithic cultures flourished in the Caucasus region.
The internal chamber features a dome-shaped design with a flat floor and an entrance portal that reflects the architectural knowledge of ancient civilizations.
Visitors can reach the dolmen by taking an electric train from Sochi to Lazarevskoye station, followed by a short journey to Volkonka village.
The structure contains a ritual basin near its entrance that served as a water drainage system and possibly held significance in ancient ceremonies.
