Thirty three Waterfalls

This cascade system sits on the Dzhegosh Stream in the western Caucasus foothills and consists of a series of falls arranged one after another down a forested ravine. Each fall has its own shape and drop, creating a varied landscape as you move downstream.

The Russian state recognized this area as a protected natural monument to preserve its ecological value for the western Caucasus region. This designation prevents major changes to the forest and stream that could disturb the natural system.

The name comes directly from the count of cascades that form a natural staircase down the mountainside. Visitors experience the raw power of falling water and hear the constant roar as they move between each level.

To reach the waterfalls, follow marked hiking trails starting from the nearby village, where local guides are available to explain the geology and plant life. Wear shoes with good grip as paths can be slippery, especially after rain.

Water has polished every stone in the gorge over thousands of years, shaping the appearance of the place in unexpected ways. This erosion creates a landscape that looks less like typical waterfalls and more like a series of natural pools and channels.
