Obzornaya

Obzornaya is a mountain within the Sikhote-Alin range in Primorsky Krai with steep slopes and thick forest coverage from base to summit. The dense vegetation gives the peak a wild, untamed appearance throughout the year.

The mountain was formerly called Khalaza before being renamed Obzornaya in 1972 during a regional renaming initiative. This change reflected broader efforts to standardize geographic names across Soviet territories.

The name Obzornaya means 'viewpoint' in Russian, reflecting the sweeping views available from its peak. Locals use the mountain as a landmark when navigating the surrounding forest.

The mountain is reached through marked hiking trails, with summer from June to September offering the most favorable conditions. Sturdy gear is recommended due to the steep terrain and thick vegetation that make the climb demanding.

From the summit, views extend across the surrounding mountains largely covered by old-growth forest. This vantage point reveals the remote, undeveloped character of one of Russia's largest remaining wilderness areas.
