Pyalovsk Reservoir, reservoir in Russia
Pyalovsk Reservoir is a water storage basin in Moscow Oblast created in 1937 as part of the Ucha River Hydrosystem. The body of water spreads across open countryside near the village of Yuryevo, fed by the Ucha and Verkhnyaya streams, with natural shorelines and scattered trees.
The reservoir was built in 1937 to manage water supply for nearby communities and control river flow during seasonal changes. It has remained part of the local landscape for nearly a century, supporting both practical water management and regional development.
The site is most easily reached by car from Moscow, taking roughly one and a half to two hours to arrive. Access to the shoreline is straightforward, though swimming is not advised due to safety measures, and fishing is permitted only outside the breeding season from May to June.
A house belonging to Russian writer Saltykov-Shchedrin once stood near the village of Vitenevo on the reservoir's shore, though it no longer exists today. The location still draws visitors interested in retracing the writer's connection to this quiet spot.
