Youth Theatre on the Fontanka

The Youth Theatre on the Fontanka is a theater company housed in a historic building along the Fontanka River in Saint Petersburg. The venue features two performance spaces that host contemporary and classical productions with a permanent ensemble and visiting artists.

The theater was established in 1974 under Vladimir Malishitsky's leadership, quickly becoming a center for progressive theatrical work in Saint Petersburg. Since its opening, it has developed into a significant venue for experimental and classical productions.

The theater presents works from Dostoevsky to Shakespeare, exploring complex themes through both traditional and experimental staging approaches. Performances reveal how the ensemble engages with contemporary issues and dramatic storytelling.
