Усть-Чепецкий могильник, Archaeological burial site in Kirov Oblast, Russia
Ust-Chepetsk burial site is an archaeological cemetery in Kirov Oblast containing 22 graves arranged in five rows. The remains were placed in shallow pits at depths of 35 to 40 centimeters.
The site dates from the 12th to 15th centuries and was excavated in 1993 by a team from Kirov Museum led by L.A. Sennikova. This expedition uncovered many artifacts that document the medieval settlement of the region.
The burial ground shows a mix of Russian and Udmurt funeral customs, visible in pottery fragments and birch structures that were left behind. This blend reflects the diverse ethnic groups who lived in the region during medieval times.
The site has been under state protection since 2015 and requires official permission for visits and research work. You should contact local authorities beforehand to arrange access, as the site is not freely open to the public.
