Church of the Protection of the Theotokos
Church of the Protection of the Theotokos, Orthodox church in Cherkizovo, Russia.
The red-brick church features blue domes and two side altars dedicated to St. Nicholas and St. Sergius of Radonezh next to the main altar.
The construction of this stone religious building began in 1899 through donations from local residents and merchants, reaching completion and consecration in 1903.
The church stands as a center for Eastern Orthodox religious practices, maintaining regular services with three resident priests conducting liturgies throughout the week.
Located on Kedrina Street number 8 in the Pushkinsky District of Moscow Oblast, the church remains open for religious services and visitor observations.
The church served as a rehearsal space for operatic tenor Fyodor Shalyapin, who participated in the church choir during his musical career.
