Hora Perchem, Mountain summit in Sudak, Russia
Hora Perchem is a mountain summit in the Sudak area with several rounded peaks running from northeast to southwest. The highest point stands at about 577 meters and overlooks the surrounding Crimean landscape.
Excavations in 1927 uncovered the remains of a 13th-century temple on the mountain's southern slope. The temple had been destroyed by fire but was restored afterward.
The name Perchem comes from the Crimean Tatar language and means "forelock" or "tuft of hair", showing the region's linguistic roots. You can still sense this heritage when locals speak about the mountain and its surroundings.
The journey starts from Sudak bus station, with a trail leading through the Golaya Mountain gorge to reach the peak. Wear proper hiking shoes as the path goes uphill and the ground is uneven in places.
The northern slope contains a protected forest park called Perchem Forest Park, established in 1972 as a regional garden monument. This wooded area offers a quiet retreat with diverse plant life, away from busier areas below.
