Tyresö Church, Protestant church in Tyresö Municipality, Sweden
Tyresö Church is a brick building standing on a hillock near Tyresö Palace with a west-facing tower topped by a pyramid-shaped roof. A cemetery with walking paths lies behind the main structure, creating a peaceful grounds complex.
The building was completed in 1641 under the direction of statesman Gabriel Oxenstierna, who was buried there on the day of its opening. After a fire in 1790 destroyed the original spire, the current lower pyramid roof was installed.
The church serves as a venue for weddings and religious ceremonies that bring the local community together. It remains a central location where residents mark significant life moments and celebrate together.
The grounds are open year-round and provide a quiet place for walking and reflection. The cemetery paths are easy to follow and well-maintained for peaceful strolls.
Gabriel Oxenstierna's grave is located within the church, marking a direct link to the founder and the place's origins. This connection to a major historical figure gives the site an additional layer of importance.
