Umeå Institute of Design

The Umeå Institute of Design provides specialized education in industrial design, transportation design, and interaction design through multiple degree programs at bachelor and master levels.

Founded in 1989, the institute quickly gained international recognition and achieved top rankings in design education, maintaining the first position in regional rankings from 2013 to 2022.

The institute brings together students from over 30 countries, creating an international learning environment where 80 percent of master's students come from outside Sweden.

Students work directly with major companies like Google, IKEA, and Volvo on real projects, using extensive technical facilities to develop their practical design skills.

The institute offers three distinct master's programs focusing on Advanced Product Design, Interaction Design, and Transportation Design, all taught entirely in English.
