Umeå Municipality

Umeå Municipality is an administrative region in northern Västerbotten, Sweden, encompassing multiple localities spread across forests, lakes, and coastal areas. The region is anchored by Umeå as its largest urban center, with smaller communities distributed throughout the landscape.

The municipality was shaped through mergers of smaller administrative units between 1952 and 1974, establishing its modern structure. These consolidations created the unified governance framework that defines the region today.
