Dekanhuset, Uppsala, Academic building in Uppsala, Sweden
Dekanhuset is an academic building in Uppsala with 45 heated rooms in the main structure and two auxiliary buildings positioned between the cathedral and a nearby church. The complex reflects different architectural periods and currently functions as office space.
The building originated as Curia decani in 1326 and was reconstructed in the 1450s following a fire in 1447. This rebuilding established the core structure that remains visible today.
The Faculty of Theology occupied the building from 1936 to 2005, establishing professor offices and a faculty library through multiple renovations.
The building is located at Biskopsgatan 2 in the city center and operates as a modern office complex following its 2005-2006 restoration. Keep in mind this is an active workplace, so standard office hours apply.
Petter Julinsköld's embezzlement of university funds led to the building's transfer to Uppsala University ownership after his death in 1768.
